After nearly 10 years of Ellanyze, I realized it was time for my business to get a new face and name…
Say hello to Desert Rose Website Works!
Inspired by my trips to Phoenix in America’s sunny Southwest these past five winters, Desert Rose Website Works is an improvement from my previous website and brand in many ways.
Below are some of the ways I hope this new brand will provide a more engaging and compelling experience for prospective and current clients alike.
I’ve also included how you can put these notions to work on your own website.
Enjoy!

1. A Logo with a Memorable Graphical Element
In my new Desert Rose Website Works logo, I turned the five petal desert rose into the O in ROSE. I then incorporated this five petal flower into various parts of my site, creating cohesion and unity throughout the design.
Do it on your website: Does your logo have a graphical element that you can incorporate into various parts of your website design for brand reinforcement?

2. Call Sign-up Links Throughout the Website
If there’s anything users today love, it’s immediacy. Whereas my old website required visitors to fill out my contact form and wait to hear back from me about coordinating a call, on my new website, visitors can sign up for a call straightaway on a day/time that’s convenient for them.
Do it on your website: Allow your users to seize the moment! If they can’t, they might forget about you the next day. Whatever tactics will allow your visitors to sign up or pay without waiting for an email back, use them.
3. Use of Google Fonts
Google has a wide collection of fonts for free personal and professional use. The benefits of using Google Fonts on your brand and website are many: they’ll load quickly, they are easy to read for users of all types, and they will most likely incorporate with other tools you use in your business. (For example, I recently learned that my proposal platform allows for uploading Google Fonts so I was able to use my exact fonts in my proposal template – how exciting!).
Do it on your website: Check out Google Fonts and see if any of the fonts will work well with your brand. If so, it might be a lot easier than using custom fonts.

4. A Compelling Story Behind the Business Name
When I read about the desert rose, I know it was the perfect metaphor and symbol for my business. As I state on my new website homepage: “The desert rose is beautiful, yet also incredibly robust. Your website should be the same way.” In these two sentences, I have connected my new business name with the service I’m providing.
Do it on your website: Where did your business name come from? Can you summarize why you named it what you did and explain it briefly to your visitors on your homepage? Communicating to your users the “why” behind your name will help them remember you and your brand.

5. Acknowledging Our AI World
I knew that my new website would need to acknowledge the fast changes that are happening in our world thanks to AI. I’ve done that in the following primary ways: 1) My homepage headline “Websites with a human touch that’s unmistakable” reinforces that in an AI world, it’s the designs created by a human that will set you apart, and 2) My new page “Help Fix My AI Site” creates for an inclusive environment, communicating to visitors that if they used AI to build their website, they’re still welcome here and I can still provide them a service.
Do it on your website: Is AI changing the landscape of your industry? How so? And where do you stand on the issue? Communicating to your website visitors these items lets them know that you are committed to staying relevant in a changing world.
Here’s to this new brand and all fun we’ll have with it! 🥳
